Sarah Model asked:
I read somewhere that Han van Meegeren signed this work with "I.V.M." is this true and if so where is it located?

Andrew asked:
To whom is the Christ at Emmaus by van Meegeren on loan? When will it return to the Boijmans?

Dear Andrew, the work is on loan to the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. It will return to Boijmans in April and will be on show again from 10 June, as part of the new collection presentation by Carel Blotkamp. Best, Rianne
Cristina asked:
Hello, I'd like to know the technique and dimensions of Christ at Emmaus by Han van Meegeren. Thank you very much.
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen responded:
Dear Cristina, The painting is made with oil on canvas. As you may know, this painting is a famous falsification in Dutch art history. Van Meegeren used a canvas from the seventeenth century to make the painting a more convincing Vermeer. The dimensions of the painting are 118 x 130.5 cm. You can also find the dimensions under the tab ‘show all details’. Kind regards, Nina

Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen responded:

About this artwork

'Christ at Emmaus' is the most famous falsification in Dutch art history. In 1937 the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen purchased this painting as an extraordinary Vermeer, right under the nose of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Only after the Second World War, following a confession by the master forger Han van Meegeren, was the 'Vermeer' unmasked as a clever fake.
